TCT Requirement - 002/03
July 14, 2003
Amended 13 Aug 2004
1. This message is provided as a point of clarification for several issues related to initial qualification of boat crew members.
A. The first point relates to the TCT requirement. All boat crew members (crew and coxswains) will need to complete TCT by May 31, 2004 if they have not done so within the last five years. This requirement will apply to all newly qualified boat crew members but, will not prevent or delay the initial qualification process. Simply stated, a member can get qualified this year as a boat crew member without having taken TCT. they will, however, need to take TCT prior to May 31, 2004.
(Added clarification 13AUG04 - If a member joins the program after May 31, 2004, they have until December 31, 2004 to complete the TCT requirement. If they do not complete it by that time, they go into REYR status).
B. The second point relates to the Operations Workshop. Once again, completing the OPS Workshop is not a requirement for initial qualification this year. We certainly encourage all trainees to participate in the workshop if available, however, lack of participation in the OPS Workshop will not delay or prevent initial qualification.
C. A final point relates to accessing the services of a Qualification Examiner (QE). For Five Year Currency Maintenance, any available QE can fill this need at any time. In past times, we would frequently refer to this as a "QE of opportunity". For initial qualification check rides, however, the request should be made of the QE Coordinator in each area who will assign a QE for the check ride. A QE will be made available within two weeks, and earlier if possible.
2. Additional questions should be directed to Tom Venezio, District Qualification Officer, via your flotilla commander or division captain.
3. The purpose of this list is to keep Auxiliarists in the First Southern abreast of current developments, policies, manuals, etc.
4. Internet Release and Distribution is Authorized.
